How to Clear Browser Cache to Improve Performance

Browser cache helps speed up your web experience by storing website data locally, but it can cause issues when it becomes outdated. If you are experiencing any lag or slow load times, particularly on the Timeline, clearing the browser cache may solve the issue. This guide explains how to clear cache in all most browsers.

Principle does not recommend using Internet Explorer or Safari (Mac) if possible.

Google Chrome

  1. Open Chrome

  2. Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner

  3. Select "Delete Browsing Data"

  4. Choose a time range (select "All time" for complete cache clearing)

  5. Ensure "Cookies and other site data" as well as "Cached images and files" is checked

  6. Click "Delete data"

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Open Firefox

  2. Click the menu button (three lines) in the top-right

  3. Select "Settings" > "Privacy & Security"

  4. Scroll to "Cookies and Site Data" section

  5. Click "Clear Data"

  6. Check "Cached Web Content" and click "Clear"

Microsoft Edge

  1. Open Edge

  2. Click the three-dot menu in the top-right

  3. Select "Settings" > "Privacy, search, and services"

  4. Under "Clear browsing data," click "Choose what to clear"

  5. Select a time range and check "Cached images and files"

  6. Click "Clear now"

Opera

  1. Open Opera

  2. Click the Opera logo in the top-left

  3. Select "Settings" > "Privacy & Security"

  4. Scroll to "Clear browsing data"

  5. Check "Cached images and files"

  6. Click "Clear data"
