You should aim for your patients to book in for their next appointment as they are checking out of their appointment at the practice. However, if a patient cancels or refuses to book during that time, you can follow the below to book them in according to their treatment plan when they are ready.

The below is also applicable if the appointment is an emergency and the appointment matches their treatment plan.

1) At the top of any page, click into the Search bar and start typing in the name of the patient. Select their profile.

2) Triage the patient's symptoms and assess the severity of the issue. See if they have an existing treatment plan by clicking on the Treatment Plan tab in their profile. See if their issue matches their treatment plan.

Make sure if you're wanting to book an appointment, you Enable Scheduling.

Now - to book a treatment that's been planned through the timeline.

3) Click Timeline in the main menu.

Note: If you haven't booked an appointment using the Timeline before, follow this tutorial first.

4) If it's an emergency appointment, find the soonest time slot you have available or flick through the Timeline using the left & right arrows at the top of the page to find an appropriate slot.

5) Once you've found a time, click Create appointment on the right side of the page.

6) Drag the cursor over the time slot to create an appointment. If you need to double book drag the cursor over an existing appointment. The Patient sidebar should appear.

7) Find your patient in the search field.

6) The patient's treatment plan(s) will appear under the treatment section. If the emergency matches their treatment plan, choose the next step of their treatment and click either + Book Now or Reschedule, for the treatment to be booked.

Important: make sure you are booking the time with the appropriate practitioner if possible.

7) Add any notes describing the patient's emergency or necessary notes by clicking on Notes on the top of the Patient Sidebar. If you pin a Scheduling note, it will appear on the timeline for easy visibility without having to go into the appointment.

8) Click save on the bottom right.

Your appointment is now scheduled.
