The patient check out process takes place on the Receptionist Dashboard or the Timeline.
From the Timeline
Click into the patient appointment, then click check out on the top right of the sidebar.
From the Receptionist Dashboard
When the appointment has finished the clinician will complete the appointment from their Practitioner Dashboard, and a Check Out box will appear on the right hand side of the appointment line in the Expected Departures section.
Checking Out the Patient
No matter where you click Check Out, you'll be taken to the Check out Dialogue box below.
1. Click Check Out for the check out window to appear.
2. Schedule Upcoming Appointments

Under section 1: Schedule Upcoming Appointments, you will see the patient's next appointment in their treatment plan.
Read any necessary Clinical or Scheduling notes in the right column.
You can either schedule their next appointment OR set a follow-up reminder.
Scheduling appointment
Click schedule to book their next appointment.
You'll be taken to the Appointment Details window where you can book in the patient's next appointment. (For a full tutorial, start at step 5 here. )

Click continue.
If there is no appointment to be scheduled move on to section 2.
Set Follow-Up
If the patient does not want to schedule their next appointment, click follow up.

Choose an appropriate date for next contact. This defaults to 1 month, but the date can be changed to 6 months or any time that suits.
This patient will be included in your Follow Up lists to be contacted at a future date.
3. Confirm the patient's invoice.
If you want to add in a line item such as products (tooth mousse, toothbrush etc), Deposits or Fees start typing it in the Add a line item box.
Click Approve & Continue.
4. Payment
Choose the appropriate payment method, follow the prompts click continue.
If necessary, you can refund a payment or cancel and replace an invoice.
5. Outgoing checklist
If there's an outgoing checklist configured to the treatment, make sure you check off the items before the patient leaves. Click continue.
6. Automated Actions
You can add a task or notification that is related to the appointment that may not already be created. For example, the patient could ask for a reminder text tomorrow or an email to be sent out after he leaves.
After creating the automation or choosing not to, click next.
7. Summary
You'll now see the summary of the appointment. Click Finish.
The patient is now checked out.
