You can SMS a patient through their Patient Profile or through the Receptionist Dashboard.
Effective communication with patients not only ensures timely updates but also enhances the overall patient experience when using Principle.

2) Find the contact box under their patient details on the left side of the page. Click SMS.
3) Type your message and click send.
Receptionist Dashboard
1) Click into the Receptionist Dashboard section of the menu.
2) Go to the date of the appointment - select the date from the calendar icon.
3) Head over to a patient's appointment and click on the three vertical dots on the right side of the appointment to open up the menu.
4) Click SMS and the SMS window should appear.
Type in your message and click Send.
Emailing Clinical Notes to Patients
Currently, Principle does not support direct emailing of clinical notes to patients. However, the following steps outline a workaround:
Download Clinical Notes: Navigate to the patient profile, click the three dots menu, and select 'Download Clinical Notes.'
Save as a PDF: Save the downloaded notes to your computer as a PDF document.
Email Notes: Use your email client to attach the PDF and send it securely to the patient. This approach ensures secure sharing of essential clinical information, despite the additional steps involved.
Limitations and Workarounds
While Principle offers robust in-app SMS functionality, it has certain limitations:
No Direct Email Integration: Users must download clinical notes and send them manually via external email clients.
Dependence on Principle Features: All SMS functionalities are restricted to within the Principle application. Understanding these limitations can help users make informed decisions and use Principle effectively within its current capabilities.
